The 2021 Toyota Camry has been around for a while, but can a new sedan on the block pose a challenge for this venerable nameplate? The 2021 Kia K5, the brand's replacement for the Kia Optima, has arrived, and it wants to challenge the king of the hill. We've analyzed both at Keyes Toyota, and we think the 2021 Toyota Camry stays on top in a few key areas.
Versatility
It's simply impossible to find a sedan that offers more variety than the 2021 Toyota Camry. There are so many trim levels to choose from, and there are different power options as well. You can even add all-wheel drive on select models.
There's the performance-focused TRD trim level. There are hybrid trim levels. You can opt for a more powerful V6 engine, or you can go for some extra style with the available blacked-out Nightshade trim level.
The 2021 Kia K5 offers some variety, including a more potent engine that we'll get to in a second. However, it doesn't come in hybrid form and simply can't match the breadth of options offered by the 2021 Toyota Camry.
Performance
When you look at the base engines of both sedans, the 2021 Toyota Camry comes out on top. Models equipped with an inline-four engine produce 203 horsepower. The 2021 Kia K5 and its inline-four engine max out at 180 horsepower.
Both also have more powerful engines, and the Toyota model wins this contest as well, albeit more narrowly. Its available 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 301 horsepower. The available turbocharged engine in the 2021 Kia K5 can only produce 290 horsepower. As an added bonus, the 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid has an output of 208 horsepower, which means that even the green version of this car is more powerful than any 2021 Kia K5 model equipped with its default engine.
Don't just take our word on it though. Visit our Toyota dealership serving Los Angeles and experience the 2021 Toyota Camry for yourself. We'll help you build a new sedan that offers the driving experience and features that you need.
