Some cars — the Toyota
Camry comes to mind — sell in enormous numbers. Other cars reveal their charms
only to a select few. The 2018 Toyota
Avalon, coming soon to Keyes Toyota, falls firmly
into the latter category. Yes, they still make some things like they used to,
with understated style and luxurious amenities (but minus a shocking price
tag).
That
means that the car is unchanged, including its five gas and three hybrid trims,
its front wheel drive, and its powertrains. The gas models each get the same
268 horsepower V6 engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission, while
the hybrid combines a 200 net horsepower gas/electric tandem with a CVT.
The
safety features carry over from last year as well, so we would expect similar
safety ratings (five stars from the NHTSA and an IIHS Top Safety Pick). While
the 2018 Toyota models all come with TSS (Toyota Safety Sense), it’s worth
noting that the Toyota Avalon actually hit that benchmark last year.
What
else does the Toyota Avalon offer? Standard leather seating, understated
styling, a refined drive, and of course, the kind of legendary reliability that
comes standard with any new Toyota vehicle.
We
could tell you more, but we’d prefer to show you. With that being said, why not
