While there may be many pickup trucks out there that promise excellent power delivery and towing capacity, none live up to their promises like the new Toyota Tacoma. At Keyes Toyota of Los Angeles, we’re pretty big fans of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma and how much it can haul behind its tailgate.
Engine Power
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of towing capacity and features, we figured it’d be a good idea to spotlight the component that makes the Toyota Tacoma such an incredible tow-machine in the first place; its engine. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma seeks its power from a 2.7-liter inline-4 engine that can make 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft worth of torque. While compact, this engine does have some solid tow-delivery, especially with the help of a nimble 6-speed automatic transmission. Partnering this four-cylinder engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 that is responsible for 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft worth of torque, and can come with a 6-speed manual transmission, and a part-time four-wheel drivetrain should you desire it.
Towing Capacity
So, how do these two powertrain options deliver in terms of towing capacity? Well, the base model engine can lug up to 3,500 pounds, which is pretty solid considering the Toyota Tacoma’s compact sizing. Although, should you want to be in control of some true muscle, the V6 can haul up to 6,800 pounds making it the clear workhorse of the Toyota Tacoma lineup.
From trailers to other vehicles, the Toyota Tacoma has the capability to lug it all, and you can experience this pickup truck’s raw power in-person here at our Toyota dealership. At Keyes Toyota, we push the boundaries on what you can expect from your dealer and strive to make sure that your time with us is truly one to remember.
