Preparing Your Car for Summer Driving

Whether you’re looking to browse new Toyota models or are in need of some much needed automotive maintenance, our team at Keyes Toyota has you covered. We’re committed to excellence, and one of the ways that we make that possible is by giving each of our customers useful automotive device. To us, no piece of advice is quite as helpful as knowing how to prep your car for summer.

So what should you expect from summertime driving? Well for one, the skyrocketing temperatures can do a number on your vehicle affecting crucial components like your tires, battery, and engine. Heat and friction are any engines’ number one enemy, left unchecked these two factors can do some serious damage to your vehicle.

Take for instance your cooling system, or radiator. Throughout the summer season, your radiator is going to be working double time, so it is highly recommended that you keep this vital component in check. You can ensure the effectiveness of your radiator by checking and replacing the coolant inside. Although it is important to keep in mind that you only change out your coolant once the engine is cool as you can risk inflicting deep burns on your skin due to the pressurized superheated coolant.

Apart from radiators and coolant, you should also be keeping a close eye on your tires. With the change in temperature comes a dramatic change in your tires as the air pressure adjusts to handle this shift of weather. By ensuring that your tires are properly pressurized you can avoid blowing a flat and finding yourself stranded on the side of the road.

Looking for further assistance on how to prep for summer? Our Toyota service team can inspect your vehicle from nose to bumper to ensure everything is ready to take on the open road this summer. At Keyes Toyota, we strive every day to satisfy your every automotive need.
